Be My Guest!

Consumers seldom find resale homes that are perfect. Good contractors typically will not give free bids until the house is purchased. Does that mean
the traditional home buying process is asking you to make the largest
investment of your life NOT really knowing what you are getting yourself
into?

Want a better way?

We have the solution:

Be my guest on Wednesday September 25th from 7:00-8:00pm at Rotary Glen Banquet Hall  in Brampton to find a better way to buy your dream home!

I <3 my Mortgage Broker

6/25/2013

I will start by saying that I have no affiliation with the mortgage broker I am about to recommend other than him arranging all of the mortgages I have ever had. From my first purchase of a brand new home in Brampton, to my Condo Apartment when I ventured back out on my own. My fixer-upper century home in Caledon and now my current home in Mono, Lyle Somers has been through it all with me. What I love most about dealing with Lyle is that I can call him, give him the info and I'm done. He does all the dirty work for me. And I trust him completely. If I trust him to handle my own home buying needs I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to any of my friends and clients.

Whether you are in the market to buy your first home or your 10th home. Lyle can surely help you find the right mortgage that suits your needs.

Have you laughed today?

I've often joked with friends that our lives tend to mimic episode's of Seinfeld. There always seem to be funny comparisons creeping around the corner waiting to send us into hysterics. Like a waitress asking if we want soup which immediately elicits a "NO SOUP FOR YOU" when someone responds no thank-you. Have you ever found yourself wandering around an underground parking lot looking for your car and suddenly you have to pee? How about the parallel park?

I read something today that said there is a Superman reference in every Seinfeld episode. How about that!? I must admit I never noticed it but it certainly has made me want to re-watch every episode just to see if it's true.

Laughter is an instant vacation. ~Milton Berle

A frind of mine had the title of this blog on her facebook page today. It was the first thing I saw when I logged in on my phone and I immediatley went to google to see what was happening. As I read through the article about the tragic events that happened this morning it took all my control to choke back the tears and overwhelming emotions I was feeling. Someone once said that when you become a mom you walk around with your heart on the outside of your body and it never rang truer for me than it did today. I was raw with sadness for the family's who lost their loved ones today in such a senseless and tragic event. I think everyone I know took a moment today to hug their kids/neices/nephews/grandchildren a little tighter today. To appreciate the little things, like stepping off the school bus safely into someone's loving arms, like dancing in the kitchen while making dinner, like snuggling a little longer and reading the same book 4 times instead of 3 at bedtime.

We went through a lot to have our precious little girl here with us today. Years of trying to conceive and fertility treatments. An emergency c-section at 36 weeks. A horrifying experince when she was 7 weeks that almost took her from us. Through all of this, I think gratitude and appreciation came easy to us. Every moment with her is a blessing. Even when I'm frustrated at yet ANOTHER piece of food being flung accross the room.

But I won't lie, there are times when I'm exhausted and patience isn't what it should be. There are times when she's crying in the middle of the night for the fourth night in a row and I lie there begging for her to go back to sleep. There are times when I am exasperated at the screaming during our very short car ride home.

But today, tragically, I am reminded again about how truly blessed we are.

Today when I got home to my sweet little monkey...we danced. We sang...and we danced. She really loves to dance these days and most evenings we spend our time dancing...all of us...dancing. She closes her eyes and waves her head back and forth to the music and then she turns herself in circles, dancing... and clapping... and smiling. These are very special moments for us, but tonight, they were a little extra special.

Squeeze your babies a little longer, a little tighter, appreciate the simple things and revel in the special moments. Let the kids decorate the Christmas Tree, even if it doesn't look perfect, let them dress themselves in the morning, even if their outfit doens't match, let them have ice cream for breakfast... just this once.

Fill the universe with light and love and laughter so the angel babies who were taken from their families today can find their way home into the loving arms waiting for them.

Powerful Message

I attended one of Tammy Elliott's "Business Ladies Lunch and Learn" events yesterday afternoon and the guest speaker was Donna Sauve of WSI. As part of her presentation Donna played this incredibly powerful video and I felt compelled to share it. In a world where we are so "vitually connected" yet at the same time more unconnected to each other than any generation before us, I thought it was a great message to share. Let's make sure we are still taking the time to make true connections and come out from behind our keyboards and embrace the power of a genuine face-to-face smile rather than than a colon and a closed bracket, a live conversation rather than an e-mail and a human hug rather than a virtual one.

According to the 2012 TD Canada Trust First Time Home Buyers Report, the majority of buyers say they would have done some things differently when
purchasing a home.

The top three things that people would have done differently:

1) 60% of First Time Buyers said they should have been more thorough when budgeting and accounting for all of the costs associated with purchasing a home. Click here for some uselful information on home closing costs you should be prepared for.

2) 60% of First Time Buyers said they would have made a bigger down payment. Click here for an easy explanation of why a larger down payment will help and you can also use the handy mortgage calculator to see how different down payments will effect your monthly mortgage payments.

3) 55% of First Time Buyers wish they had purchased their home sooner. Are you currently paying rent? Click here to see the benefits of home ownership vs. paying rent.

Read the report in it's entirety here: http://www.newswire.ca/en/story/1015775/first-time-home-buyers-reflect-on-their-rookie-mistakes

Do you have anything to add? What advice would YOU give to people who don't yet own their own home? I'd love to hear from you!

                   Lionel Sydney Jessop
                Oct 26, 1942-Sept 17,1996

My Dad passed away on the morning of September 17, 1996 just shy of his 54th birthday, after an 11 year battle with Lymphoma. I was 13 when he was diagnosed, he was the young age of 42. Cancer simply became a part of our lives. Being so young I know I didn't completely comprehend what was happening but over the years it just became commonplace in our household to talk about lymph nodes, chemotherapy, tumors, surgery, white blood counts, red blood counts, platelets... and on and on...but death never came up. It just wasn't an option. I remember weekly checkups on Monday's at Princess Margaret Hospital, I remember leaving flowers on his nightstand after a round of chemo but looking back what I remember most was a fighting spirit. It must have taken everything in him to carry on with such bravery and strength. I never heard him complain, never saw him cry, even in his darkest times he protected us from the fear and pain he must truly have been feeling. If that's not the definition of a hero I don't know what is.

When I first signed up to volunteer for the Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer Event I'll be honest, I had no idea what it was all about. I saw a "tweet" from someone saying that volunteers were needed and I signed up. As the weeks have gone by I have realized what a huge event this is going to be and I couldn't be more proud to be a part of it in my Dad's memory.

There are 54 Celebrities on the roster to be participating tomorrow! Sad that I don't see my beloved Dougie Gilmour on the list though... maybe he'll be making a surprise appearance just for me!!?? He did tweet me on my anniversary after all!! Sigh..a girl can dream <3

A special shoutout to my cousin Lori who is currenlty fighting her own battle against this awful disease...

Look Well to This Day

Anonymous, 50 B.C.

Look well to this day,
For it and it alone is life.
In its brief course
Lie all the essence of your existence:

The Glory  of Growth
The Satisfaction of Achievement
The Splendor of Beauty

For yesterday is but a dream,
And tomorrow is but a vision.
But today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness,
And every tomorrow a
vision of hope.
